- 83 cents for “all earners” (full time year-round + part time and part year
- 95 cents for full time, year round workers
AANHPI Women’s Equal Pay Day will be held on April 9 this year. On this day, we highlight the fact that Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander women, AANHPI women are paid only 83 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men.
But, that’s only part of AANHPI women’s equal pay story. For certain communities, the wage gaps are far greater. Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women in particular face tremendous economic disparities, including stark wage gap inequities that can vary widely by state. For example, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, and Burmese women are some of the lowest paid people in the nation.
But you can’t fix, what you can’t measure. So our two calls to action this year will be 1) continuing to call on the EEOC to not rescind their EEO-1 and other related data collections, and 2) calling attention to the need for federal agencies to disaggregate income and wealth data so that we can better tailor economic justice solutions for key communities, such as Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
Our shared hashtag for the day will be #AANHPIEqualPay. Thank you for joining us this year in marking this important day.
