Equal Pay Day
March 25, 2025 - social media storm at 11am pt/2pm et
75 cents for "all earners" (full-time, year-round + part-time and part-year)
83 cents for full-time, year-round earners
On this day, we will highlight the fact that, according to 2023 Census data, the wage gap for women compared to men is 83 cents on the dollar for full-time, year-round workers. When you look at all earners, including full-time, year-round earners, part-time, and part-year workers, the wage gap widens to 75 cents. These wage gaps are unacceptable. Women continue to be underpaid and undervalued.
Join the 50+ organizations-strong Equal Pay Today coalition, advocates, lawmakers, and community members from across the country on March 25, 2025 for a National Social Media Storm at 11am PT/2pm ET to raise awareness about the ongoing wage gaps that impact women and their families. This year, we are going to be messaging around the importance of the tools we still need to help close the wage gap, as well as to collectively push back on the gutting of our nation’s civil rights enforcement agencies. We must protect our rights as we fight for new ones.
Our shared calls to action during our social media storm will center on the importance of:
fighting for new tools to close wage gaps, like the Paycheck Fairness Act. This bill would modernize and strengthen the Equal Pay Act of 1963 to better combat pay discrimination and close the wage gap, including by protecting workers from retaliation for discussing pay, banning the use of prior salary history, and codifying pay data collection; and
protecting our independent civil rights enforcement agencies. President Trump took unprecedented actions to fire officials at independent agencies – agencies which enforce employment and other civil rights protections – including at the EEOC and the NLRB. Some agency leadership announced an abdication to enforce federal law protecting all workers, in particular on the basis of gender identity. Other agencies are rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion programs that support the advancement and economic security of women and workers of color in the workplace. We oppose the gutting of our nation’s civil rights enforcement agencies and other critical programs and will work to restore these critical missions.
Our shared hashtags for the day will be #EQUALPAYDAY. Thank you for joining us this year in marking this important day.
